For long the city became the battlefield for intense fighting between the Iraqi security forces and IS militants. Residents blame the government for not doing enough of reconstruction.

Mosul: Two years after Mosul was liberated from ISIS's long atrocities, the city still remains in ruins. The ruined buildings in the bare streets and the remains still wait to see a new sunrise in the terror-stricken city.

Mosul became the battlefield for intense fighting between the Iraqi security forces supported by the international coalition and IS militants.

According to the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), over 3,00,000 residents or one-fifth of Iraq's population were displaced.The economic depression has controlled the market and business inside the city. Four main bridges that connect the west and the east of the city are still out of service.Residents blame the government for not taking any measures to rebuild the city. The NRC, EU, and UN have taken some efforts for restoration.In 2014 IS militants took control over the Mosul until July 10, 2017. Two years have passed by but the city remains littered with rubble.
