The drinks, topped with whipped cream, are decorated with the faces of Israel's three major candidates: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his challenger Benny Gantz and Avi Gabbay, leader of the Labor Party.

"We wanted to do something to encourage the Israeli people to go and vote, so we made a special milkshake for each candidate," said David Gilboa, manager at Truman and Co restaurant, in Airport City.

"What's interesting is that most people are not ordering by the flavour of the milkshake but they are ordering by their political views", he added.

Israel is holding its 21st parliamentary elections, with over 6.3 million people eligible to cast ballots in a vote largely seen as a referendum on the long-seated Netanyahu.
