More than one million lights illuminate the Royal Botanic Gardens providing an after-dark spectacular to get even the most incorrigible Scrooge feeling the Christmas spirit.

London:The Royal Botanic Garden at Kew marks the start of London's festive countdown with a mesmerising light show and also allowing the visitors to be captivated by the Christmas spirit.

More than one million lights illuminate the Royal Botanic Gardens providing an after-dark spectacular to get even the most incorrigible Scrooge feeling the Christmas spirit.

Kew's natural landmarks were covered with colourful lights providing a magical environment for the visitors. There's still over a month until Christmas but that's not stopping anybody here from feeling the festive spirit.

Daire Basra, head of event operations at Kew Gardens said that the Treetop Walkway was transformed into the most popular attraction by 30,000 lights twinkling to the music. The next stop is the Cherry Tree Walk which went a step ahead in providing a prodigious view of an early Cherry blossom for the bare cherry tree.

Next on the list is the heritage beech tree which was embellished with white pea lights.

That's not it! The Vines by Mandylights where a 30-metre long deck was lit up by 30,000 colour changing pixels which dangle across the path of the visitor.

Besides the lighting they also prepared some non-electric shows such as the Fire Garden, where hundreds of candles gave out along with the Christmas hymn 'Silent Night' was a more contemplative space in the bustle of Kew.

The centre piece is the historic Palm House at Kew Gardens lit by a dramatic laser light show. Christmas at Kew runs from 20 November until 5 January 2020.
