Mediterranean: In a major attempt of rescue, a German humanitarian group, Sea-Eye on Monday rescued 44 people from a wooden boat in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Alan Kurdi, a ship of a sea rescue group, picked up the migrants in coordination with Maltese authorities.
The rescue group had received an emergency call that 44 people, including four women and three children, were spotted in a wooden vessel in international waters.
Last week, the Sea-Eye's ship rescued 65 African migrants who were allowed to go to Malta.
Earlier, the Maltese government was not providing permission to rescue ships to enter the island nation's ports.
