French climber detained for scaling German high-rise

Alain Robert is known for climbing some of the world's tallest buildings often without permission or safety ropes.

Frankfurt: An urban climber Alain Robert also known as the "French Spiderman" climbed a high-rise building in Frankfurt on Saturday.

He took 20 minutes to scale the 153-metre Skyper building in the heart of Germany's financial capital.

Upon his descent from the gleaming glass structure, the 57-year-old was met by German police who escorted him away.

He now faces a fine for his effort, a climb he described as "not very complicated, but a bit tiring at age 57."

Reportedly, Robert has climbed many of the world's tallest buildings often without permission or safety ropes.
