8 killed in Paris fire: Searches for more victims on

Paris: Firefighters are still searching for victims while trying to douse the flame in the residential building in Paris where a fire broke out on Tuesday morning. Eight people were killed and around 28 persons were injured in the fire in south-western Paris.

There could be a rise in the death toll as the fire is still raging on the seventh and eighth floors of the eight-storey building, a fire service spokesperson said.

The building where the fire broke out is about one kilometre from the Roland Garros stadium that hosts the French Open tennis tournament.

More than 200 firefighters and emergency workers are on the scene, Paris police said, and the street is blocked off.

People in neighbouring buildings were also evacuated to avoid possible causalities.
