Hyderabad: Amid the border row with India, Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephonic conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
During the conversation, Xi said that it was necessary for Beijing and Moscow to intensify their strategic communication and cooperation in the fast-changing global situation, CGTN reported.
The Chinese leader's conversation with Putin came at a time when Beijing is engaged in a border row with India. And Washington is also flexing its military muscle in the South China Sea against Beijing.
Xi told Putin that China was willing to continue mutual support with Russia, firmly opposing external interference and sabotage, and maintain the country’s respective sovereignty, security and development interests, South China Morning Post reported citing CGTN.
Recently, Washington has criticised Beijing for its multi-dimensional territorial aggression with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying that from the mountain ranges of the Himalayas to the waters of Vietnam's exclusive zone to the islands and beyond, Beijing has a pattern of instigating territorial disputes.
