Islamabad:Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is presently lodged in Kot Lakhpat jail, moved Islamabad High Court and filed a fresh petition seeking bail on medical grounds.

According to media reports, Sharif filed the petition on Monday which sought suspension of his seven-year sentence and subsequent grant of post-arrest bail on medical grounds.

The petition, citing medical reports, claimed the condition of Sharif is critical and he needs stress-free enviornment for his treatment. According to doctors, Sharif is suffering from numerous diseases which may be life threatening for him.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court had rejected Sharif's review petition seeking bail on medical grounds.

The apex court has also denied Sharif's plea for going abroad for treatment. He was ordered to surrender before the court as soon as his bail period ends.

Sharif on May 8 returned to the Kot Lakhpat jail after being out on bail for six weeks owing to illness.
