Muslims across the world celebrated Eid al-Fitr

Muslims across the world marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan on Wednesday by performing Eid al-Fitr prayers. As in previous years, the Muslim world was split on when the start of Eid is, as it's based on sightings of the new moon.

Hyderabad: At the crack of dawn Muslimsacross the world celebrated Eid al-Fitr by performing rituals.

Indonesia which has the largest Muslim population celebrated the occasion at the Al Azhar mosque complex.

Likewise in Rawalpindi worshippers performed a morning prayer in celebration of the end of Ramadan at the Eidgah Sharif shrine.

Led by Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hundreds of thousands observed Eid al-Fitr prayers on Wednesday in Tehran to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In Dhaka, however, heavy rains spoilt the festive occasion. Yet, Eid prayers flocked into the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr.

The day marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, when devout Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

Muslims in Qatar, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and many other Muslim nations celebrated the joyous occasion with great fervour.
