Hyderabad: Amid the ongoing Eastern Ladakh stand-off between the two Asian giants- India and China, Defence expert Qamar Agha said that New Delhi will have the backing of world leaders against China if tension escalates between the two nuclear-powered countries. China is a rich nation but internationally they are alone.

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Agha said, "Americans and Europeans wouldn't come to rescue India due to pandemic and the shrinking economy. Russia would play a key role as it played during the Doklam stand-off. India has strong ties with Moscow and it will pressurise Beijing to not engage in a military confrontation with New Delhi."

Defence expert Qamar Agha speaks to ETV Bharat over India-China face-off in the Galwan Valley.

"New Delhi will get Russia's support, not only Moscow's but many East European countries and India's 70 per cent weapons come from Russia and East Europe," he added. "China may be good on trade and commerce but internationally, Beijing does not have a reputation as a global power. And, Galwan clashes have degraded Beijing's reputation," Agha noted.

"In South Asia, Nepal and Sri Lanka wouldn't be troublemakers despite recently emerged differences with New Delhi. Neary 8-10 countries in South Asia and East Asia would back New Delhi and nations surrounding the South China Sea would also support India," he added.

"Nations beyond the Indo-Pacific region are disturbed by Chinese incursion. Due to disputes over the East China Sea and Senkaku Islands, China's relations are not stable with Japan. Australia, New Zealand and South Korea are unhappy with Beijing's activities. New Delhi has alliances with these countries but it needs to have a joint approach against Beijing," Agha stressed.
