Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 2,30,97,864 and killed over 8,02,362 people across the world. More than 1,56,89,901 people have recovered so far.
Worldwide coronavirus count The US accounted for the world's highest number of cases and deaths. The number of infected is more than 57,00,000 and deaths more than 1,70,000. By far, the US remains the worst-hit nation, with the highest caseload and death toll around the world.
Brazil came in second place with more than 35,00,000 infections and 1,13,000 deaths.
Health officials in China say in their report on the coronavirus that the country had no locally transmitted infections in the latest 24-hour period, though 22 cases were confirmed in Chinese arriving from abroad.
South Korea has reported 332 newly confirmed cases, marking the ninth straight day of triple-digit increases.
The government had already imposed the tighter restrictions in the capital region earlier this week, a move they resisted for months out of economic concerns. Park said it has become inevitable to expand the same measures nationwide with the virus spreading more broadly.
