US COVID-19 deaths have surpassed the 150,000 marks to reach 150,034 on Wednesday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 4,396,030, according to the CSSE. New York state has reported the highest death toll of 32,658 in the country.

Hyderabad:The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 1,71,70,446 and killed over 6,69,231 people across the world. More than 1,06,75,734 people have recovered so far.

Brazil's novel coronavirus outbreak has marked grim milestones, with the death toll surpassing 90,000, the number of people testing positive-going over 2.5 million, and a record number of new cases emerging in a single day nearly 70,000.

China on Thursday reported another 105 confirmed cases of COVID-19, almost all of them in Xinjiang. The northwestern region accounted for 96 of the cases, with five others in the northeastern province of Liaoning and one in Beijing.

The remaining three were brought by Chinese travelers from overseas. While China has largely contained the virus in other parts of the country, the Xinjiang outbreak centered on the regional capital and the largest city of Urumqi continues to grow.

New Zealand’s government says it will rush through new laws to allow some people to be charged for their border quarantine costs. New Zealand hasn’t had any community transmission of the virus for three months, and everybody who enters the country is required to spend two weeks isolated at a hotel.

The change of season or weather did not seem to be affecting the spread of COVID-19, and the pandemic could come as 'one wave' instead of multiple waves like influenza, a World Health Organization expert said on Tuesday.
