Sochi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday that both Russia and China agreed that cooperation should be still 'the common goals pursued by all countries'.
Speaking at a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Wang said he and Lavrov both agreed that 'peace and development are still the mainstay of the current era'.
His comments come amid rising tensions between the US and Iran, as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held talks with officials from European powers that are racing to salvage a nuclear deal with the Islamic republic.
US President Donald Trump is withdrawing from a landmark nuclear treaty with Russia and has said he wants a new agreement that includes China as well.
