China and its disputed territorial, maritime claims

China has recently claimed Galwan Valley, where PLA and Indian troops were engaged in violent clashes last week. Beijing at loggerheads with various countries due to its disputed territorial maritime claims.

Hyderabad: China is the only country across the world that has disputed territorial claims with nearly all of its neighbours. Beijing's claims are based on its belief, not on treaties. Probably, it's the only country that lays sovereignty over an independent nation - Taiwan.

Dragon's claim trail begins from South-China Sea -- islands in East Asia disputed between multiple countries -- where Beijing has made Navy base, artificial islands and other massive infrastructure.

Beijing claims a large portion of the South China Sea - territorial and maritime both. China has made Naval base, artificial islands and other massive infrastructure on the South China Sea.

Rejecting the McMahon Line, Beijing occupied 38,000 sq km of Indian territory during the 1962 war. China also lay claim over Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.

Beijing, Tokyo both lay claim over uninhabited islands, known as Senkakus in Japan and Diaoyus in China.
