6 killed in Syrian government's air raids on Ariha

As many as six people were killed and over 10 remain buried under debris after Syrian government carried out airstrikes on a crowded area in Ariha.

Ariha:At least six people were killed and ten remain buried under rubble following Syrian government air raids on a crowded residential area in the rebel's last stronghold, rescuers and activists said.

The first responders known as the Syria Civil Defence (or White Helmets) said five women and a child were killed in the attack carried out by the government.

Videos from the scene filmed by the White Helmets showed a narrow alley blocked by the debris from a pulverized building.

Survivors covered in white dust were among those who lifted a wounded man on a gurney and a young girl into the ambulance.

Rescue workers were still searching for survivors under the rubble after the airstrikes hit in the town of Ariha.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said there were more than 100 air raids and as many as 93 barrel bombs dropped on Monday on the southern section of the rebel stronghold.

It also reported six killed.

The violence has displaced more than 200,000 people since erupting in late April.
