4 dead, 5 hurt in explosion at South Korea motel

An explosion occurred on the second floor of the motel in the coastal city of Donghae leaving 4 dead and 5 injured. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the explosion.

Donghae:Four people have been killed and five others injured in an explosion at a motel in eastern South Korea.

Saturday's explosion occurred on the second floor of the motel in the coastal city of Donghae. Yoon Jae-gap, an official from Donghae Fire Station, said early signs suggested it was a gas explosion.

Four people inside the room were killed and three others were seriously injured.

The explosion also caused minor injuries to two other guests who were in different rooms.

Yoon did not provide details of those who were killed or injured but said some victims appeared to be related.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the explosion.
