Winter weather hammers US midwest, east coast

Major areas of the US are suffering because of the extreme weather conditions. A major storm is expected to bring heavy snow from the Upper Midwest to parts of the Northeast of the country on Wednesday.

New York: Large areas of the US are dealing with wintry conditions and a major storm is expected to bring heavy snow from the Upper Midwest to parts of the Northeast of the country on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says precipitation has generally ended in the state of Oklahoma, but many roads in the northern and western parts of the state will remain covered with snow on Wednesday.

Areas around St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri remain under a winter weather advisory into Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service says freezing rain and ice remain a problem for people travelling in both areas.

A winter storm system is expected to bring snow and ice up the east coast.

The National Weather Service forecasts between three and six inches (7.6-15.2 cm) of snow for Washington, DC, Baltimore and Philiadelphia.

It predicts 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) of snow in New York City. Winter Weather advisories have been issued for all four cities.
