Venezuela crisis: Maduro challenges Guiado to call for polls

Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro challenged self-proclaimed interim president Juan Guaido to call for a national elections. He also termed the US President Donald Trump as "Mr Emperator".

Caracas: Amidst ongoing political turmoil in the country, the embattled President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro challenged self-proclaimed interim president Juan Guaido to call for a national elections.

Maduro targeted Guaido and said, "There's a clown out there who claims to be interim president."

"Why not call for elections so his revolt is (supported) with votes from the people?" Maduro questioned.

While addressing a graduation ceremony for medical students, the President termed Guaido as "Mr Clown" or "Mr Self-Proclaimed" several times.

He also termed the US President Donald Trump as "Mr Emperator".

Trump has called for humanitarian aid in the form of food and medical supplies to be brought into Venezuela, but Maduro has blocked it saying there's no humanitarian crisis in the country.
