New York: Praising the just concluded Indian elections, the US has said it was "confident in the fairness and the integrity" of the same, saying it was a "marvel of logistics".
"It was a marvel of logistics and planning with 900 million people, an eighth of the world's population, eligible to vote", State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said here.
"We applaud the high turnout, estimated at around 66 per cent or roughly 600 million people, and the government of India for their excellent execution of this incredible event," she told reporters.
The US Praising and believing in "fairness and integrity" of the Indian elections comes at a time when opposition poltitical parties back in India raised dobuts over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with some of them even asking the Election Commission of India to back to ballot paper system.
Ortagus also offered congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on their decisive victory.

"The US looks forward toworking with the newly elected government to continue to accelerate our strategic partnership, which includes cooperation on a range of critical issues, such as counterterrorism and ensuring a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, she added, terming India as a "crucial partner" of the US in many areas, especially counter-terrorism.
