Washington: During a press briefing on Monday, US President Donald Trump said that "Obamagate" is going on for a long time before he even got elected.
A Washington Post reporter had challenged Trump about his accusation over the weekend that his predecessor, former President Barack Obama "committed the greatest crime in American political history".

Trump declined to describe the crime, although he called it "Obamagate".
The term 'Obamagate' came into prominence after allegations flooded news and social media that Barack Obama during his presidency had given $150 billion to Iran, parts of which were supposedly used or earmarked for anti-American activities.
"It's been going on for a long time. It's been going on from before I even got elected. And it's a disgrace that it happened. And if you look at what's gone on and if you look at now all of this information that's being released, and from what I understand, that's only the beginning," Trump said.
