US bans Pakistan International Airlines flights from flying over pilot certifications

PIA has confirmed the US transportation authorities and notified that it will discuss the matter through the corrective measures within the airline. Pakistan's grounding of pilots came after the May 22 Airbus A320 crash that killed 97 people.

Washington: US Transportation authorities said that it has officially cancelled permission for the Pakistan International Airlines charter flights to start its operation to the US after Federal Aviation Administration showed concern over Pakistani pilots certifications.

Last month Pakistan has grounded a third of its pilot following the display of the report which states that the pilots are holding fake or dubious licences.

The European Union's aviation safety agency has already declared that Pakistan’s national airline will not be allowed to fly into Europe for at least six months.

The ban by the European Union affected PIA flights operation to the United Kingdom and Canada because its aircraft will not be able to fly over Europe forcing longer routes.
