Hanoi: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's aim was to "do something great" that "would be on a par" to recent economic development in Vietnam, making "North Korea enjoy great economic power."
Trump made the remarks as he paid a courtesy call to Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ahead of his second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi.
Trump also thanked Vietnam for hosting the summit and for agreeing to new trade deals with American companies, including Boeing.
Trump and Phuc have presided over a signing ceremony of several commercial trade deals between their two airline industries.
