Roi de Janeiro: Thousands performed at the Sambadrome in Rio de Janeiro on Monday night during the second and final day of the competition among the city's top samba schools.
The performance was part of the celebrations as Brazil's famous carnival entered its fourth day.
Samba competition is getting political this year as one school aimed criticism at the budget cuts to the arts.
The parade of Sao Clemente put a political message at the heart of its music.
Luciana Vieira, a performer from the school, said she wants to live in "a better world", in which "everybody can enjoy it equally, respectfully, and safely".
"Sao Clemente is critical," said Junior Scapin, a choreographer at the school.
