Greeley:The search for the 12-year-old girl who disappeared in 1984 ended when the Colorado police discovered the skeletal remain at an oil and gas site on Tuesday.
The mysterious disappearance case of 12-year-old Jonelle Matthews attracted the attention of the White House and came at a time when the faces of missing children across the nation were being placed on milk cartons.
Jonelle Matthews was seen singing Jingle Bells with classmates at a 1984 Christmas concert. After finishing the concert she was dropped off at her Greeley home by a friend and the friend's father around 8 pm on December 20, 1984. When her parents entered home at 10 pm they found the front door open, her shoes beside the chair and her stockings across the couch but there was no sign of her.
