Hawaii: US's Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard has been put into lockdown as authorities were responding to a shooting on Wednesday.
Reportedly, three people including the shooter are dead after an attack. A third victim is at a hospital.
The US military on Wednesday said security forces were responding to reports of a shooting at a naval shipyard at Pearl Harbor. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m.
"JBPHH security forces have responded to a reported shooting at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Due to the ongoing security incident, access/gates to #JBPHH are closed. We will update when we have further information," tweeted Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
The shipyard is part of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hick which is adjacent to Honolulu.
Rear Admiral Robert B. Chadwick, Commander, US Navy Region Hawaii speaking about the shooting incident occurred at Pearl Harbor, on Wednesday.
It is across the harbor from the Pearl Harbor National Memorial which on Saturday will mark the 78th anniversary of the attack by Japan that propelled the US into World War II.
Pearl Harbor houses the headquarters for the US Pacific Fleet and is the home port for 10 destroyers and 15 submarines.
