Washington:Amid escalating tension with Iran, the US President Donald Trump on Thursday said more troops will be deployed to the Middle East if needed.
The statement from the US President came when the Pentagon proposed deployment of more troops to the Middle East to counter possible threats from Iran.
The silverline is that in the past few days US has been talking of not going to war with Iran, though it has kept the pressures on. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Acting Secretary of Defense Shanan and Trump too have said that Iran is a dangerous country, and that they must be full prepared to counter and take severe actions against Iran if there is any misadventure on its part. But at the same time, as if to balance the threats out, they have said very clearly that the US is not planning any war.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said, "We'll see what happens with Iran. I don't think we're going to need them, I really don't, but we're going to have a meeting on it in about an hour. I would certainly send troops if we need them."
