Mass shooting in Ohio: 10 killed, 16 injured

Police are investigating an active shooter incident in Ohio's Dayton which left 10 people dead and 16 injured.

Washington: Police were responding to reports of a mass shooting on Sunday that took place near a bar in the US state of Ohio, in which 10 people were killed and 16 were injured, media reports said.

First reports came in at about 1 a.m. of a shooting outside a bar in Dayton city's Oregon area, according to the media.

The Dayton Police Department said in a statement: "We are actively investigating an active shooter incident in the Oregon District. Please avoid the area. More information to come. We will provide information and facts regarding the Oregon District shooting through this account as they become available. This is a large scene and investigation."

The incident came hours after another mass shooting in El Paso, Texas which left at least 20 people dead.

TV footage uploaded to social media showed several bodies on the floor covered in white sheets.

It is unclear whether the shooter was still at large.
