Flight cabin catches fire, makes emergency landing in Boston

217 passengers were evacuated safely after a small fire broke out on board of a Virgin Atlantic flight which diverted its direction to Boston.

Boston:A small fire broke out on board of a Virgin Atlantic flight forcing it to make an emergency landing in Boston on Thursday night. No casualties were reported.

The flight was heading towards London from New York.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the fire that started in the first-class cabin was due to a battery pack that was stuffed in the passenger seats led to an electrical malfunctioning while causing a spark.

However, 217 passengers who were on board were evacuated safely, media reported. While the firefighters reached the spot and quickly doused the fire.

One of the passengers Cory Tanner said that the firefighters entered the flight before they were allowed to evacuate the flight.
