Facial recognition tech banned in San Francisco

San Francisco:A ban was imposed by San Francisco supervisors on the facial regognition technology making it the first city in US with such restrictions. The new law will be effective from this month.

San Francisco supervisor Aaron Peskin said, "It's psychologically unhealthy when people know they're being watched in every aspect of the public realm, on the streets, in parks. That's not the kind of city I want to live in."

Peskin added, "There are many ways to make our society secure without living in a security state. We have very good policing but we don't want to live in a police state. This legislation tries to strike that balance."

It is kind of survelliance which creates an unbreakable security cage that is ready to give the details about anybody that comes in front of it. According to Peskin, it might help in catching criminals but it is risking the privacy of the common people living in the city which is a serious threst to the civil rights.

The ordinance will restrict police from sharing information with the federal agencies. The legislation bans municipal use but not personal, business or federal government use of face ID technology.

The move helps the people to live in a healthy environment without anybody watching. But acoording to the opponents the measure is going to compromise people's safety.
