Taxco:Easter celebrations have started in Taxco in southern Mexico. The celebrations are unique in that they combine pagan traditions with extreme religious fervour.
In the celebrations masked men joined the procession in which they were seen carrying large bundles of thorny poles tied to their shoulders and were also self-flagellating.
They were also bearing heavy weight of about 30 to 50 kg (66-88 pounds) and were portraying the time when Jesus Christ was carrying the cross.
