Colombian authorities confiscate 1.5 tons of cocaine

One and a half tonnes of cocaine was confiscated by Colombian anti-drug police on Friday. The chlorinated cocaine was inside metal casings that resembled wheels. Colombia is the world's largest cocaine exporter.

Buenaventura: Colombian anti-drug police confiscated one and a half tonnes of cocaine on Friday.

The chlorinated cocaine was inside metal casings that resembled wheels.

"They were using iron containers with led exteriors to prevent the scanners from detecting them and grease was used as well to prevent dogs from smelling it, said anti-drug Police Commander, Ernesto Rodriguez Herrera.

The cocaine was discovered in the port of Buenaventura on the Pacific coast and was destined for Belgium, authorities there said.

Colombia is the world's largest cocaine exporter.
