Lima: Two babies born to mothers who tested positive for the coronavirus in Peru have tested negative for COVID-19.
Doctors have attributed that to strict biosecurity protocols used at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital where the babies were born in late March.
The births took place days apart and a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, including gynecologists, obstetricians, epidemiologists, and nurses, among others, were involved in the caesarean births and the care of the mothers.
The first baby was born at 32 weeks, weighing 1 kilo, 77 grams on March 27th, while the second was delivered at 38 weeks, weighing 3 kilos 300 grams on March 31st.
