A new dawn in the United States of America

America can raise its head as the World’s superpower only when US Presiden Joe Biden lives up to the people’s expectations on his maturity and wisdom.

Hyderabad:A new history is unveiling itself in the United States of America as Donald Trump retreated from the scene with his farewell message saying “We did what we came here to do.”

A new dawn was witnessed in the US as Joe Biden, the oldest person ever to have been elected to the position, won the election that was claimed to have been fought to protect the soul of the US, which was founded on the values of freedom and equality.

A century after women won the right to vote, a woman was elected as the Vice President of America for the first time. Her South Indian origins are something for the developing world to feel proud of.

Donald Trump became the President of the USA with the slogan of “America First”. In his four-year stint, he dragged the country into a whirl of crises.

Now historians are saying that as President Joe Biden will be facing challenges as big as those faced by Abraham Lincoln in the wake of a civil war in 1861 and also the crises faced by Franklin D Roosevelt when the country was engulfed by an unprecedented recession in 1933.

Trump had announced that he was proud to be the first President over several decades that did not initiate any new war. However, he is responsible for inciting supportive mobs to attack Capitol Hill.

It is not going to be easy to erase the traces of Trumpism as hep got 7.4 crore votes despite his image as an extreme rightist.

No President had ever lied so blatantly, nor had anyone so brazenly ruined the constitutional systems as Trump.

He had promised to make the country debt-free in eight years. But he added 8.3 lakh crore USD to the country’s debt burden in four years.

The first challenge faced by Joe Biden is to correct the systems that

were pulverized by a mad elephant and heal the socio-economic crises left behind by it.

The fury of the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the death of 4 lakh Americans, during Trump’s stint, which was marked by the tendency of too much talk and too little work.

The Covid-19 casualties are on par with the number of US soldiers that

died during World War II. Trump realized the seriousness of the pandemic only after he was infected by the deadly virus.

Joe Biden has announced that 10 crore Americans will be vaccinated within 100 days of his tenure. This is going to be a Maha Yagya for him. Unemployment rate had reached its worst level in 50 years before the pandemic. Following the pandemic, the situation slipped further to helpless despair.

A social crisis is reigning supreme in the US as 1.4 lakh jobs were lost in December alone.

Vice President Kamala Harris has revealed some shocking facts, according to which one in every six American families is suffering the pangs of hunger, 20 per cent of country’s citizens are not in a position to pay their home rent and a third of the families in the country are not in a position to pay for their essentials.

Biden has announced an emergency strategy to deal with the situation with an allocation of 1.9 lakh crore USD. However, these plans can be materialized smoothly only if the Republicans too came forth to join hands with the government.

Biden is aiming to overcome Covid-19 with vaccination and targeting

economic revival and job generation through plan expenditure.

He will also have to inevitably address the issue of disparities in US society.

He should realize the fact that Trumpism was fuelled by the anger among rural people and the working masses.

The visionary zeal of Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt, who united the country’s people by making use of the opportunities thrown up by

crises should act as the steering wheel for President Biden.
