New Sudan govt will be run by civilians: Military

Addressing a press conference Colonel General Omar Zein Abedeen said that the new Sudanese government will be run by civilians. He asked the people to give the government list and the army will agree upon it and welcome it.

Khartoum:A Sudanese army official said on Friday that the new government will be run by civilians.

Colonel General Omar Zein Abedeen made the remarks at a press conference on Friday in the capital, Khartoum.

"We are not going to intervene. Just give us the government list and we will agree upon it and welcome it," Abedeen said.

But he added that the Interior and Defence Ministers would be chosen by the military council.

The statement came a day after the Sudanese military overthrew longtime President Omar al-Bashir.

The army arrested al-Bashir, imposed a state of emergency that included a night-time curfew, suspended the constitution and closed the country's borders.
