Sunny Deol joins hands with Aamir Khan for Lahore, 1947; deets inside

Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol joined hands for an upcoming film Lahore, 1947. Helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film will be bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions.

Hyderabad: Superstar Aamir Khan announced his upcoming production venture Lahore, 1947 on Tuesday. Taking to social media, Khan has revealed that the upcoming film will star Sunny Deol and be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Following the tremendous success of Gadar 2, Lahore, 1947 will be Sunny's first officially announced project. The upcoming film will be Sunny's first officially announced project after he delivered a massive hit with the Rs 500 crore plus mega-blockbuster Gadar 2.

Lahore, 1947 will be bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions which brings together the powerful trio Sunny Deol, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Aamir Khan. Notably, this film will be the 17th production from Aamir Khan Productions. Announcing the film with Sunny, Aamir shared his excitement with a statement, saying, "I, and the entire team at AKP, are thrilled to announce our next project, titled Lahore, 1947, starring Sunny Deol and directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi. We eagerly anticipate working with the immensely talented Sunny and one of my favorite directors, Raj Santoshi. This journey promises to be enriching, and we seek your blessings."

Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny have previously delivered three successful films together, including Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak, hinting at the potential for another epic collaboration. Moreover, Lahore, 1947 also marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar after their cult classic, Andaz Apna Apna.

What makes this announcement even more significant is the alleged rivalry between Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan at the box office in the past. They clashed at the ticket window in iconic showdowns, including Dil vs. Ghayal in 1990, Raja Hindustani vs. Ghatak in 1996, and Lagaan vs. Gadar in 2001. Now, for the first time, Aamir and Sunny are joining forces on a project that will put an end to their decades-long reported conflict.
