Los Angeles: The Golden Globes ceremony this year marked the start of the 2024 Hollywood award season, with filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer taking home five trophies. Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Score, Best Actor-Drama, and Best Picture-Drama were all awarded to the biographical film. However, Barbie, starring Margot Robbie, took home the inaugural Golden Globe for cinematic and box-office success.
With stars like Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Florence Pugh, Angela Bassett, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and many more in attendance, the Golden Globes ceremony kickstarted the awards season in style. Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan and Barbie by Greta Gerwig were the two films with the most nominations this year, however, it was the Christopher Nolan film that lead the race.
Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy has bagged the trophy for Best Male Actor -Motion Picture-Drama at the Golden Globes 2024 for his performance in the biopic film Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer team was in for another treat as director Christopher Nolan won the Best Director -Motion Picture award at the Golden Globes for his biopic film.
Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr. took home the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his role in the hugely successful 2023 film Oppenheimer. He portrayed the evil Lewis Strauss, with Cillian Murphy portraying the title character in the popular film directed by Christopher Nolan. The Christopher Nolan directorial Oppenheimer won its 4th award at the Golden Globes as it bagged the trophy for Best Picture - Drama.
Lily Gladstone won the Best Female Actor- Motion Picture award at the Golden Globes for her performance in Martin Scorsese's Killers of The Flower Moon. Gladstone has also become the first Indigenous woman to win the award. Actor Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the first prize at the 81st Golden Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in the movie The Holdovers. In the Alexander Payne-directed Christmas comedy-drama, she portrayed Mary Lamb.
