PM Modi to address four poll rallies today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a poll campaign spree on Wednesday, beginning with two rallies in the Uttar Pradesh, followed by one each in Hoshangabad Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan's Jaipur. In Uttar Pradesh, Modi's rally is scheduled at noon in Maya Bazaar, an area close to Ayodhya, the temple town part of the Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha seat that has been the centre of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): Ahead of the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a poll campaign spree on Wednesday, beginning with two rallies in the Uttar Pradesh, followed by one each in Hoshangabad Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan's Jaipur on Wednesday evening.

In Uttar Pradesh, Modi's rally is scheduled at noon in Maya Bazaar - just 25 km from the disputed site of the 16th-century Babri mosque in Ayodhya that was razed in 1992 by Hindutva driven forces who believe that it stood on the site of a temple that marked the birthplace of Lord Ram.

Maya Bazar is part of Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar parliamentary seat which goes to polls on May 6 and not the Faizabad seat, which includes Ayodhya.
In UP Modi is likely to have a face-off with Uttar Pradesh's grand alliance or 'Mahagathbandhan' leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati, with the duo, also set to hold a public rally at Ramsanehi Ghat in Ayodhya parliamentary constituency at 1 pm.

This is the first time since coming to power in 2014 that PM Modi would visit the area - a move that's expected to fuel the claims of right-wing groups and allies like the Shiv Sena that the BJP uses the temple issue to draw votes.

Next on in the list is Madhya Pradesh's Hoshangabad Parliamentary Constituency, where Modi is scheduled to address a poll rally at around 3 PM in the Itarsi town of the Lok Sabha seat.

The BJP has fielded sitting MP Rao Uday Pratap Singh from Hoshangabad while Congress is banking on senior party leader Shailendra Diwan to wrest the seat.

Hoshangabad will go to polls on May 6.

Modi's poll rallies scheduled for Wednesday will conclude with one addressed by him in Mansarovar area of Rajasthan's Jaipur's, where PM will campaign in support of party candidate Ram Charan Bohra from Jaipur Parliamentary Constituency.
