Young woman raped by an Uber cab driver in Bangalore

Uber cab driver sexually abused and allegedly raped a lady in Bangalore while she was returning from a friend's late-night party.

Bangalore: A lady has alleged that an Uber cab driver sexually abused and raped her while she was coming in an Uber cab at a late-night in Bangalore. On the complaint lodged by the lady, Jeevanbheema Nagar police registered a case and intensified the investigation.

The young woman who was working in a private company had booked a cab to go to Murugesh Palya at 2 am, after a party in her friend's house at the HSR layout on Tuesday. The driver Devaraj has taken her by cab. The lady alleged that "the driver physically assaulted and raped me while coming home."

The police have registered a case against the driver. On the other hand, it is said that a young woman consumed alcohol at a party. But it needs to be more confirmed, said police.

A senior police official said, "A case of rape has been registered under Section 376 of the IPC. Three special teams have been formed to investigate the case. The cab driver is from Andhra Pradesh. The suspect will be held very soon."
