Basti (Uttar Pradesh): In the Kaptanganj police station area of the district, a teenaged girl was found unconscious in a pool of blood just 55 metres from her home
It is learnt that the girl had gone out, as was her habit, to answer nature's call. Some miscreants who were already lying in wait then attacked, But when they failed to rape the teenager, they made blade cuts all over her body and mouth.
Basti Superintendent of Police Ashish Srivastava speaks about the rape bid and attack on a teenager. The 15-year-old girl had gone out of her home at a village under Kaptanganj police station area around 10 pm after telling her family members that she was going to the toilet. When she did not return after a long time, the family members started searching for her but could not find her as it was dark.

It was only around 5 am in the morning that they found her lying unconscious and covered in blood at a field some distance away from her home. She was half-naked and a blade was put in her mouth that was tied with a piece of cloth. There were blade cut marks all over her body. Even the delicate parts of her body were not spared.
Soon people from a nearby village gathered around the shocked family members of the girl. On being informed by the relatives about the incident, Kaptanganj police reached the spot and took the girl first to the community health centre (CHC) Kaptanganj. After initial treatment, doctors at the CHC referred her to the district hospital.
SP Ashish Srivastava, who reached the spot to investigate, said that the injured teenager has been admitted to the hospital. He said that the truth will come out only after she regains consciousness. A case has been registered based on the complaint by the victim's brother and the matter is being investigated.
