Raipur: A Nigerian national has been arrested on Tuesday from New Delhi for allegedly duping people after befriending them on a social networking site. The incident came to light after a woman from Raipur lodged a complaint with the city police station recently.
According to police sources, the accused identified as Ignatius Chukavjequou Nauroka befriend people on Facebook and then convince them to transfer money on the pretext of sending them high-value gifts and foreign currency.
"He is one of the gang members who usually cheat people on the pretext of sending high-value gifts by creating fake social media profiles and befriended people by posing as women. The accused have duped several people on the pretext of releasing gifts," said Lakhan Patle, ASP, Raipur City Police.
