Entry into Kashi Vishwanath Temple's sanctum sanctorum banned due to pandemic

The entry of devotees into the sanctum sanctorum Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi has been banned. This step has been taken in view of the surge in Covid infections. Orders have also been issued in this regard.

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): In the midst of increasing Covid-19 cases, the entry of devotees has been banned in the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple. Now devotees will only have tableau darshan till the next order.

Issuing orders on behalf of the temple administration in this regard, Chief Executive Officer Sunil Kumar Verma said that due to the increasing infection rates, the situation in Benaras has deteriorated. In such a situation, it is important to take care of everyone's safety. Keeping this in view, orders have been issued to prevent devotees from entering the Garbh Grih of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple. The order has come into force from Friday evening.

From now on, devotees who wish to visit can only witness the tableau of Baba Vishwanath and offer worship and offerings in the vessel placed outside the temple. Apart from this, the temple administration has also banned the sale of Mangala Aarti tickets till further orders.

The District Magistrate of Varanasi had also issued orders to ensure that the regular Ganga Aarti to be held at Dashashwamedh Ghat is performed in a subtle manner. Aarti is being performed by only one priest from Thursday. During this time none will be allowed.
