Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu): The Sterlite Copper smelting plant resumed the production of medical oxygen on Wednesday, days after a technical snag led to the suspension of operations.
The production of medical oxygen had begun on 13 May at the Vedanta-owned Sterlite copper plant.

The company had roped in a five-member expert team from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to rectify the glitch.
After the plant began operations, around 6.34 MT of oxygen were supplied by evening.

The plant was been sealed by the state government in May 2018, days after 13 agitators who were part of a protest against the company over environmental concerns, were killed in police firing.
