Srinagar (J&K): Two unidentified militants were killed during an encounter between security personnel and militants at Alamdar Colony of Srinagar's Danmar area. The encounter had begun in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar in the early hours of Friday. The militants have been identified as Irfan Ahmad Sofi and Bilal Ahmad, both residents of Natipora in Srinagar. Security forces have also recovered one AK 47, pistol and four grenades from the site of encounter.
"Two (a total of two) local terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed. With today's operation, police along with security forces neutralised 78 terrorists in the valley so far this year. In these encounters, most of the terrorists (39 out of 78) were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT followed by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al-Badr, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind. 2 terrorists were involved in 3 incidents that took place last month. We were tracking them. Yesterday on confirmation, CRPF & police cordoned off the area. We appealed them to surrender but they refused after which encounter started in which both were killed," IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.
