Differently abled man wheels in 6-kms for Covid jab

In a heart-rending incident, a man had to take his differently abled son for 6-kms on a wheelchair to get him inoculated with the Covid vaccine at the district hospital in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Despite the tiring ordeal, the father-son duo had to wait for hours for the jab.

Ranchi (Jharkhand):Tarun, a resident of Ranchi's Vidyanagar, had to take his differently abled 31-yr-old son (Arjun) around 6 kilometres on a wheelchair to get him inoculated with the Covid vaccine. Tarun and his wife had to walk all the way on foot, along with their son Arjun on a wheel chair as they did not get any ride due to the weekly lockdown on Sunday.

However, on having reached the district hospital the father-son duo had to wait for hours, despite their tiring ordeal.

Arjun inoculated following ETV Bharat's initiative

A team of ETV Bharat on having witnessed Tarun's painstaking efforts to get his differently abled son vaccinated, informed about his ordeal to the authorities. Immediately, the administration instructed the hospital officials to take necessary action and ensure that Arjun is vaccinated at the earliest. It was then that Arjun's name was registered and administered the Covid vaccine.

Hospital administration busy inoculating VIPs

On Sunday, the vaccination block of the district Hospital was busy inoculating VIPs which resulted in a large number of people gathering at the vaccine registration counter. As a result, Divyang Arjun had to wait on a wheel chair, while his mother Abla Devi and father Tarun had to stand in queue at the spot registration awaiting their turn. The parents also had to take turns visiting Divyang Arjun as he cannot walk and has trouble speaking.

Ambulance arranged to take Arjun back home

Following Arjun's vaccination, the hospital deputy superintendent ensured that an ambulance was arranged so that Arjun and his parents could return back home.
