Raipur (Chhattisgarh): Frontline warriors, as well as government employees, are providing selfless services to the public in these trying times. So far, more than 900 officers and personnel have died in Chhattisgarh due to Covid-19.
Employee unions say that despite having rendered services amidst the Covid surge, they are struggling for treatment and medical reimbursement, after hospitalization.
Many contract workers have also died due to the pandemic. In such a situation, the government is being demanded to provide pension and compassionate appointments to contract employees.

Covid-19 mortality was maximum seen among the employees working in the Health Department, School Education Department, Home Department, and Water Resources Department. Even those involved in the Ministries, Directorates, Collectorate, Corporations, Commissionerates too lost their lives.
In this context, the employee organizations have demanded the state government to relax the rules and ensure that the Kith and Kin of the deceased be provided with jobs.
