Raipur:Chattisgarh Police on Friday have filed a sedition case against the former ACB chief and suspended IPS officer Gurjinder Pal Singh. Documents retrieved during the ACB raids earlier disclosed that the official had allegedly hatched a conspiracy against the government. Recently, Cabinet Minister Ravindra Choubey speaking out on the issue had said that as soon as the facts come out, a decision will be taken. For the first time in Chhattisgarh, a sedition case is being filed against a senior IPS officer. However, no information regarding the contents of the alleged documents seized during the raid has been divulged. The sedition case against the suspended IPS was filed in Kotwali PS.
According to reports, police are investigating the matter with utmost seriousness. As of now, besides the economic offence, the registration of sedition charges against the suspended IPS GP Singh only adds to his troubles. It is known that the state government had already suspended GP Singh as he was charged on the basis of acquiring disproportionate assets in Raipur, Bhilai, Rajnandgaon and also in Odisha. On July 1st, as many as 10 locations linked to Chhattisgarh's senior IPS officer GP Singh were raided by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). An FIR has also been registered against him for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets in Raipur, Bhilai, Rajnandgaon and also in Odisha.
