Patna:At least 13 people have died due to lightning strikes in Bihar, while dozens of cattle were killed in the state due to heavy rains on Wednesday.
In the Jagdishpur police station area of Bhagalpur district, three people died and another suffered burn injuries due to lightning. According to sources, four of them were returning home, having taken their cattle for grazing. As it began raining heavily they stood under a tree to avoid being drenched. However, a lightning strike led to the death of Shriram Yadav (46), Kailash Yadav (58) on spot. While, Sujit Kumar and Anand Kumar (14) suffered burns, one of them died during treatment.
A young man died due to lightning in Banpaniya Panchayat Sanpatha village of Kisanpur police station area in Supaul, while a worker died due to a thunderclap in Sarairanjan police station area of Samastipur district. It is being told that Nandlal Rai (45), a labourer from Jitwarpur Kumhira village, was working in the field when he died due to the thunderstorm and heavy rains.

One person died on the spot due to a thunderstorm in Bhagrar village of Neem Nawada Panchayat in the Khaira block area of Jamui. The deceased person has been identified as 35-year-old Sitaram Yadav, son of Kesho Yadav, a resident of Bhagrar village. He was grazing cattle in the field. Apart from this, a woman also died due to a thunderclap in the district itself. Dozens of cattle were also killed due to lightning.
