Man shoots girl, kills self in Panipat

A man shot an ITI student and later committed suicide near Desraj Colony in Panipat. The victim has been admitted to Agrasen Hospital and her treatment is underway. Also, the police found two illegal weapons from the crime spot. The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.

Panipat (Haryana):A 38-year-old man on Wednesday committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol after allegedly shooting a girl near Desraj Colony in Panipat.

The officials said that the man, identified as Kishore, was a resident of Kabri village and the girl is a student of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) - Karnal.

"The girl was walking towards Desraj colony when the boy suddenly arrived on a bike. He first shot the girl, after which she ran away in an injured condition. The guy then shot himself with another gun and died on the spot," said Sushila, an eyewitness.

Panipat Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satish Gautam added that the police rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported. The victim has been admitted to Agrasen Hospital and her treatment is underway. Also, police found two illegal weapons, a bag and a bike from the crime spot.

However, the officials said that, prima facie, it seemed linked to a love affair, but the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
