Patient diagnosed with both Black and White fungus

The first case of a white and black fungus infection in a patient has been reported in Meerut, western Uttar Pradesh.

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh): The first case of a white fungal infection in a patient suffering from Black fungus has been reported in Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the man who was suffering the risk of losing his eyes due to the infection has been successfully treated.

The 42-year-old patient, a resident of Bijnor was admitted to the Anand Hospital in Meerut following symptoms of black fungus.

Following a medical examination, it was confirmed that he was also infected with white fungus. On further examination, it was learned that he might lose his eyesight if not treated immediately.

According to ophthalmologist Dr. Puneet Bhargava, the patient came to him complaining about an eye problem.

An MRI report also revealed that the fungus had penetrated his sinus, due to which he was facing an eye problem. As he was operated upon immediately by a team of doctors his eyesight has been saved.

In general, black fungus is present in the environment and enters the human body through the nose, mouth and windpipe.

Doctor Puneet Bhargava said that the White fungal infection can be cured with normal medication when treated at the right time.
