BSF personnel have arrested a Chinese National from the Border Out Post of Malik Sultanpur in West Bengal when he was trying to illegally cross the Indo-Bangladesh International Boundary.

Malda (West Bengal): On 10 June 2021, the South Bengal Frontier of the Border Security Force, arrested a Chinese National from the Border Out Post of Malik Sultanpur in West Bengal, when he was trying to illegally cross the Indo-Bangladesh International Boundary. As he crossed the International Boundary and was spotted moving in a suspicious manner, the vigilant troops on border duty intercepted him. On being challenged, the Chinese citizen tried to run away but the BSF troops chased and caught him. Thus after arresting the infiltrator, he was brought to the Border Out Post of Mohadipur for questioning. During the interrogation, the Chinese intruder revealed his name as Han Junwe (36) a resident of Hubei, China.

Having interrogated the Chinese national, it was learnt that he reached Dhaka, Bangladesh on 02 June 2021 on a business visa, and stayed there with a Chinese friend. On June 08, 2021, he reached Sona Masjid of Chapainawabganj district (Bangladesh) and stayed in a hotel there. On 10 June 2021, when he was trying to enter inside the Indian territory, he was caught by the BSF troops. His passport has also been seized by the troops. He even told that he visited India four times previously, adding that he visited Hyderabad in 2010 and Delhi, Gurugram thrice after 2019.

According to him, the "Star Spring" hotel in Gurugram is owned by him and that some of those working there are also Chinese nationals and the rest are Indians. On further questioning, he told that when he had gone to his hometown of Hubei (China), one of his business partners namely Sun Jiang gave him and his wife 10-15 numbers of Indian mobile phone SIMs. However, his business partner was caught by the ATS in Lucknow, and that a case has been registered against him and his wife too. As a result, he was not granted an Indian Visa in China and hence obtained a visa from Bangladesh and Nepal, in order to enter India.

During a thorough search of the intruder 01 Apple Laptop, 02 iPhones, 01 Bangladeshi SIM, 01 Indian SIM, 02 Chinese SIM, 2 Pen Drives, 03 Batteries, 02 Small Torches, 05 POS Machines, 02 ATMs/Master Cards, US Dollars, Bangladeshi Taka and Indian currency were recovered from his possession. According to the statement issued by BSF South Bengal Frontier, Han Junwe, is a wanted criminal and is being interrogated properly. All intelligence agencies are working together in this work. In the electronic equipment seized from Han Junwe, it was revealed that he was working in India for the Chinese Intelligence Agency. This apprehension has been a big achievement for the Border Security Force and the matter will be investigated in the depth.
